All investments need a caretaker. As a fiduciary, we monitor your investments with your best interest in mind.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes” Who watches the watchers?

Portfolio Management

A strong and diversified portfolio is important to protecting and growing your lifetime wealth, therefore our strategies are always tailored with an appropriate level of risk in mind. Our portfolios are individually tailored to each client’s needs and values; there are no “cookie-cutters” here. Additionally, our portfolio management is performed in-house, meaning lower fees and more accountability. As a fiduciary our loyalties are always centered on you, the client.

How Main Street Works

We are a Fee-Only Fiduciary

A “fee-only” advisor is one that does not accept commissions for recommending certain investments or financial products. This independence means clients can be certain that our recommendations are based solely on our professional judgment and not on a monetary incentive. This also helps align the advisor’s interests with yours. We calculate our fee based on the number of requested services, the complexity of the relationship, and the size of assets and risk.

We have a fiduciary relationship with every one of our clients in every transaction. A fiduciary is always required to put their client’s interests ahead of their own. As a practical matter, being a fiduciary means that all conflicts of interest between an advisor and client must be disclosed.

Retirement Planning

Retirement planning is complicated – our goal is simple. We help you plan for the future by presenting clear pathways using our expertise in the investment management and tax worlds. Our low cost retirement plans are diversified and tax-efficient so you can be confident in your financial future.

When Can I Retire? When Should I Retire?

Smart retirement planning takes into account your individual goals and plans and provides real, actionable, and concrete steps.

How to Plan For Retirement

The biggest hurdle to saving for retirement is getting started. We will put together a customized retirement plan based on your goals using diversified investment and savings options.

What is Tax Planning?

Tax planning is the analysis of a household’s finances to ensure that you pay the lowest taxes legally possible. It requires careful forecasting of your tax liabilities throughout the year.

Tax Liability Forecasting

We look at your current income and expenses to forecast what your tax liability will be at the end of the year. This enables better planning for deadlines and avoiding any nasty unexpected bills at tax time.

Opportunities to Save

Depending on your financial situation and income, you may be able to take advantage of significant tax savings throughout the year. Identifying these opportunities is our specialty.

Tax Preparation and Filing

We offer efficient and accurate tax preparation and filing services, so you can be sure that all appropriate tax forms are filed. More importantly, as credentialed Enrolled Agents, we can help manage all of your communication with the IRS, state, and local revenue offices

Our tax planning process includes a thorough financial analysis to ensure that your filings are complete and that there are no missed savings opportunities.

As an Enrolled Agent licensed by the IRS, we can help you respond to any letters from tax authorities and communicate with them on your behalf.

Speak With an Advisor

At Main Street, we know that choosing a financial advisor is an important decision. Our cross-expertise of investment management and income taxes allows us to evaluate actual dollar savings based on your unique household. We invite you to let us calculate those savings for you. Every wealth management path we create begins with a conversation.

Ready to see if Main Street is a good fit for you or your business? Let’s talk.

Wealth Management for Individuals

We sit at the intersection of investment management and tax planning. Our specific expertise in both fields, such as our ability to construct diversified and inexpensive portfolios, and at the same time engage in deeply detailed tax planning, allows Main Street Investments to provide better insights to investors. Many places offer tax advice, but very few enact the strategies and sign tax returns. The difference in knowledge is vast.

We’ve found that attitude rather than current wealth and income is a more reliable predictor of client fit. We work with motivated self-starters who are serious about their money and financial plan. Our ideal clients are searching for a partner not only to map possible financial paths forward but also to help hold everyone accountable. We have no required minimum asset level, and indeed have helped many clients start their first financial plan. We are vested in our clients’ long-term successes.

Our fees are not inexpensive, due to the breadth and depth of our services and expertise. We price our services based on the complexity of the relationship, the number of services provided, and the risks involved.

We operate in a “fee-only” fiduciary capacity. Fee-only means that Main Street Investments never earns a commission on any investment recommendation. We only sell insight gained through experienced knowledge of financial markets, the Internal Revenue Code, and our understanding of our clients’ lives and trust.

It’s a fair question, and it’s not an impossible feat. In our experience, however, the reality is that it’s usually viewed as another household chore that either just slips through the cracks month after month, quarter after quarter, or is simply ignored. When the “chore” in question involves multi-variate issues, multiple deadlines and changing rules, it is our steadfast belief that “I don’t know what I don’t know” ends up costing YOU money.

The pillars of Main Street’s portfolio management are diversification and a long-term (i.e. multi-decade) view, at the most inexpensive total costs. We consider ourselves caretakers of our clients’ futures and act accordingly and with prudence. Every client has their own individualized Investment Policy Statement detailing the portfolio objectives, constraints and client wishes. We are serious about client capital and understand that we only succeed through our clients’ triumphs.

Absolutely. Giving someone access to your financial situation and tax information is one of the deepest forms of trust which in some cases can take a long time to cement. We enjoy meeting people on their terms but also understand that although not every meeting may lead to a mutually profitable relationship, they are very seldom unrewarding. We love talking investments and taxes (not a misprint) and love getting to know our unique, individual Americans, regardless of background.
